The Whale
In certain Native American folklore, the Whale is the Record Keeper — the “swimming library” of the world.
When I travel, I love to draw Animal Medicine Cards. They’re like tarot of sorts, based off certain Native American folk tales. And for me, every time I draw the Whale, a story appears: I meet someone that day who inspires me in such a way to write and share their story.
This website is a collection of those stories.
A bit about me.
My name is Harris Newman. I’m a freelance writer based in New York. I’ve written mostly for Nike for the last three years, as well as adidas and other brands. I’ve also been published in travel, sports, and music magazines. It’s my passion to learn about the world through its people and to pass that learning along to others.
